I Rheinland-Pfalz sex berömda vinodlingsdistrikt produceras över 70 % av Tysklands viner. Vinet är mycket omtyckt såväl inom som utom landets gränser och populariteten bara stiger: här finns allt från pärlande Riesling, som frodas i de branta skiffersluttningarna längs Mosel, till Spätburgunder (Pinot noir) från Tysklands nordligaste och ändå mest kända rödvinsdistrikt Ahr.
Som så mycket annat i Rheinland-Pfalz var det romarna som för över 2000 år sedan tog med sig vinstockarna hit och började odla vin på de soldränkta sluttningarna. Landskapet präglas därför av vingårdar och pittoreska vinbyar, urgamla vinkrogar och nobla vingods. Vill man få det folkligt och festligt ges det tillfälle på de många typiska vinfesterna.
